Marzamemi is a little former fishing town in the outermost south east of Sicily. The narrow alleys have a picturesque dreamy charm; especially attractive are the beaches in the direct neighbourhood of Marzamemi. Often, the water is crystal clear and also the beaches are whiter than further in the north because of the greater distance from the darker volcano earth. Worth seeing are the port and the central square with its church; here you also can relax in a nice bar.

Every year a little film festival takes place in Marzamemi: “Cinema di frontiere”, the cinema of frontiers. This festival has made it to his task to cross frontiers, to show insights into other cultures and to bring people’s minds together. This attitude is reflected in the films which are shown on the central square of the town, entrance is free. All in all you can say that a visit in Marzamemi is always worth it, whether there is film festival or not.
