Caltabellotta is a city on Sicily in the
Province of Agrigento. It has 4485 citizens and spreads over a area of123 qkm.
Caltabellotta lies on the north-west side of Sciacca in an awesome location on the slope of a bizarre shaped hill. The history of the town goes back to the Sicels, who had already a residential area here. Later on the Arabians established a colony and built a castle. They then called the town Castle of Oaks, „Qalat-al-Ballut“, which was the origin of the town’s today’s name. A couple of churches and of course the view over the hinterland are worth seeing.
